Hematology Oncology Fellowship
Clinical Training & Education

Our Hematology-Oncology fellows spend their clinical time between inpatient and outpatient services at Kettering Health Dayton (former Grandview Medical Center) and Kettering Health Main Campus.

Each fellow will have a designated, full day Continuity Fellow Clinic (Tuesday or Thursday). The fellows Continuity Clinic is located on the Medical Oncology floor at the Kettering Main Campus Cancer Center. This allows the fellows to monitor a panel of patients for the duration of their three years. The Fellows take ownership of these patients which gives them the opportunity to develop trust and long relationships with patients and their families. Continuity Clinics are essential in the education and training of our Hematology-Oncology Fellows.

Current inpatient exposure includes 4-week rotations through consult service at Kettering Health Dayton and Kettering Health Main Campus. Each fellow will be on call 2 out of the 4 weeks. They also will be expected to cover Incident 2 call at the Kettering Cancer Center infusion center.

Fellows have an outpatient rotation in addition to their continuity clinics, they work alongside faculty members seeing educational cases in a longitudinal manner. Fellows get to perform all outpatient procedures like bone marrow biopsies and intrathecal chemotherapy during this block. This clinic rotation is a rotation where fellows gain experience in the core areas of Hematology-Oncology.

The fellows have dedicated core curriculum lectures every Wednesday along with subspecialty lectures every other Friday. The fellows also have a dedicated hour and a half on Fridays for additional learning opportunities driven by our Chief (Third Year) Fellows.
