Yes! We have a robust pediatric population in our office. Average family medicine residency has 6-8% under the age of 10. Our office has 18-20% pediatric patients under 10. We provide a high volume of the Medicaid pediatric care for the area. Our residents typically meet their pediatric outpatient requirement by the end of PGY2.

Yes! Kettering Health Network is very supportive of away rotations including global rotations. You can do 2 rotations away locally or internationally. We recommend international rotations to be part of the PGY2/3 year due to set up time.

Due to the increasing opioid epidemic, we seek to provide our residents training to meet their community needs. All our residents are buprenorphine waiver trained during orientation. You will also have 2 rotations with addiction medicine and 1 with community medicine to better understand how to coordinate care for these patient's needs.

The Family Medicine rotation will take place in block 7 for the R1/R2 schedule. It is a flexible rotation that will cover the inpatient service and clinic while allowing all residents to have some time off over the holidays.

Yes, we have a standard curriculum for all residents which includes 4-5 extended didactic sessions at Kettering College each academic year as well as shorter didactic sessions on specific MSK POCUS topics during our didactic time at Soin Family Practice Center. Additionally, we have ample opportunities for expanded training experiences for those who choose a POCUS elective with flexibility for various interests within ultrasound (i.e. Ob/Gyn, MSK, outpatient, inpatient, etc...).

We also have eight Butterfly iQ probes available for use in the outpatient clinic, in the inpatient setting, and available for checkout for those on the POCUS elective or global health work!
