Professional Practice Gap

Gap: State which gap from the RSS planning document will be addressed, or design an event-specific topical gap:

Gap 1 General Topic:
Inclusive coordinated, efficient and effective patient care. Patients experience complications in the hospital which may have been avoidable. Physicians fail to recognize the potential problems that exist and how to avoid them. This lack is particularly evident in the care of hospitalized patients admitted for intensive care, complex medical disease and/or surgical post-operative complications.

Gap 2 General Topic:
Costs of diagnosis and treatment need to be considered in the management of patients. Promoting appropriate use criteria and enhancing coordinated care of the hospitalized patients among specialties could result in more effective care.

Gap 3 General Topic:
Clinical guidelines and the most up-to-date evidence are not always considered when caring for patients.
