Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Training
Our ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Kettering Health Main Campus is a 52-week post-graduate program that focuses on developing a competent, confident, and well-rounded pharmacist in the acute care setting. The program offers a variety of experiences and has equipped residents for positions in specialized clinical roles, PGY2 training, academia and others. Kettering Health Main Campus has been graduating well-trained PGY1 pharmacy residents since 2013.

Day to day, residents are directly involved in providing pharmaceutical care to patients as part of the multidisciplinary team in a variety of areas including internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, hematology/oncology, antimicrobial stewardship, neonatal intensive care and cardiology. The PGY1 Resident will be trained in Pharmacy Consult Services including pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring, nutrition support, anticoagulation, and antiarrhythmic medication patient counseling. Development of pharmacy leadership skills in both the inpatient administrative and operational realms is also a priority.
