Hematology / Oncology Fellowship

Alejandro Calvo MD, FACP
Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
Program Director
Thank you for your interest in the medical oncology and hematology fellowship at Kettering Medical Center - Kettering Cancer Center pavilion.

Our ACGME accredited program was established in 2019. Its main goal is to provide individualized training and mentorship for fellows so they can grow and have confidence while learning to navigate in the evolving field of cancer care. At the end of their training they will be eligible to sit for subspecialty certification in both, medical oncology and hematology.

The Kettering Medical Center oncology and hematology fellows will graduate as fully competent, assertive and caring specialists in the field. They will be prepared to devote their careers to excellent patient care, teaching and if desired clinical research.

Our program is based at the multidisciplinary Kettering Cancer Center in the Kettering Medical Center campus in Dayton, Ohio. We have several hospitals integrated with our program, including Soin Medical Center, Sycamore Medical Center, Troy Medical Center, Grandview and Southview Hospitals. This allows us to offer a diverse case mix of patients that will be under supervised care by our fellows. In addition, we have partnered with other institutions to offer exposure to specialized centers for bone marrow transplant and hospice and palliative care.

Our fellows will be expected to mentor Wright State University and Loma Linda School of Medicine residents and medical students rotating in our service. They will work closely with a specialized team of clinical pharmacists and nursing staff while taking care of oncology and hematology patients.

We work hard to create an environment of inclusion for all. We offer 2 fellowship training positions each year. Our program requires graduation from a LCME accredited medical school or ECFMG Certification and successful completion of a 3-year Internal Medicine Residency.

Applicants must submit their complete applications through the Electronic Residency Applicant Service (ERAS) and enroll in the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP).
