Mission Statement

Soin Medical Center and Ohio's Hospice share a vision of excellence in medical education. We are known leaders in service and commitment to our community. The mission of our fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine is to inspire physicians who will join us as outstanding clinicians and dedicated teachers, who view their role in society as that of a servant leader in their medical community and in society.

Program Aims

The Soin/Ohio's Hospice Fellowship will use its extensive educational resources and diverse medical network to offer a wide range of unique educational experiences. Our inpatient and outpatient services will train compassionate clinicians who possess outstanding communication skills and are well prepared to care for patients and families at all stages of the trajectory of complex serious illness across all settings of care. The fellowship faculty will model participation in scholarly activity, including research and formal teaching to ensure that our fellows emulate this behavior and value these aspects of their responsibility as physicians. Our fellows will recognize the unusual challenges of caring for dying patients, the pressures of cumulative grief and the art of living with dying. We will mentor the value of a healthy lifestyle, presence, mindfulness, and the art of caring for each other as the techniques that help not only our patients but ourselves.
