Thank you for your interest in the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Kettering Medical Center – Main Campus.

Our ACGME accredited, two year fellowship program, established in January 2026, offers individualized training and close mentorship for physicians pursuing careers in medical critical care. The program is designed to develop confident, compassionate, and clinically excellent intensivists prepared for a wide range of professional paths.

Fellows train in a high-acuity tertiary care environment at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, gaining broad exposure across the Medical, Surgical, Cardiothoracic, and Neurocritical Care ICUs, among others. Their clinical experience includes exposure to advanced therapies, such as acute mechanical circulatory support (e.g., ECMO, Impella), CRRT, bronchoscopies, and complex ventilator management. They also develop skills in Advanced Critical Care Echocardiography and General Critical Care Ultrasound, ensuring thorough preparation for future independent practice.

Education emphasizes patient-centered care, rigorous clinical reasoning, and evidence-based decision-making, grounded in humanistic values and ethical practice. Fellows will function as clinical leaders, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring residents and medical students, and progressively assuming attending level responsibility. Each fellow is supported by a dedicated faculty mentor focused on individualized professional development.

Graduates are eligible for ABIM subspecialty board certification in Critical Care Medicine and are well prepared for careers in clinical practice, medical education, and academic medicine.

The fellowship offers two positions per year. Applicants must have completed an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and apply through ERAS with participation in the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP).

We appreciate your interest in the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Kettering Medical Center-Main Campus and welcome you to explore our program further.
