POCUS Curriculum
We include a required 4-week PGY1 rotation, and a regular series of didactic trainings done at Kettering College (general curriculum)


Handheld Probes
EchoNous Kosmos probe, Eight Butterfly iQ devices, two Philips Lumify probes, and tablets available at each outpatient clinic, inpatient
resident office, & available to check out/take home when on elective or global health trip.
A variety of larger ultrasound machines are available in our two outpatient clinics, Soin Hospital, and across the network; completion of
all 1st trimester obstetric dating scans for our continuity patients.


2 or 4 week elective option
Weekly scanning sessions with faculty and Kettering College Ultrasonographer, experiences within the Radiology department, Interventional Radiology,
Sports Medicine/MSK ultrasound, & Women's Health ultrasound. Residents are provided with a 12-month subscription to Core Ultrasound educational
modules and Qbank. The elective concludes with a "POCUS OSCE" to assess skills and meet self-selected learning objectives. POCUS Journal Club article
review is required.
Residents participate in bimonthly inpatient POCUS rounds. Each ultrasound rotation includes a requirement for logging a specific number of scans and
scan types, and each scan is reviewed by POCUS faculty members for feedback and additional training.
