Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy

We have a proud heritage of osteopathy within our program and strive to integrate osteopathic philosophy into all aspects of our practice. Grandview Family Medicine is one of only ten family medicine residencies with osteopathic recognition spread throughout the state of Ohio, and we are the only osteopathically recognized program in the Greater Dayton area.

OMT Residents are encouraged to practice OMT within their routine clinic and hospital practice and have additional, focused application of their skills through our monthly osteopathic manipulative medicine clinic held at Cassano Clinic. During these encounters, residents are encouraged to work cooperatively with faculty and other residents to provide osteopathic manipulative treatments for a wide variety of complaints. Our clinic was specially designed to be mindful of osteopathic manipulative therapy and we have several rooms dedicated for space to practice in with dedicated osteopathic manipulative treatment tables.

OMT Residents' skills in osteopathic manipulation are fostered throughout residency during didactic skills labs and through a dedicated month-long osteopathic manipulative medicine rotation during the intern year. Additionally, all residents attend the annual Family Practice Reunion and Review Conference where they participate in OMT workshops led by prominent osteopaths from the local area. Residents also have the opportunity to attain board certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.

OMT With many such osteopathic ties to the Grandview Foundation, Family Practice Reunion and Review, Dayton District Academy of Osteopathic Medicine and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, residents have a plethora of opportunities to pursue advanced training in osteopathic manipulation and leadership within the local osteopathic community.
